STEREO-4, SDO-2, SOHO-25

The Sun 360

Stereo-4/SDO-2/SOHO-25 Workshop

July 25 - 29, 2011, Christian-Albrechts-Universität, Kiel, Germany

Second Announcement:

The first STEREO/SDO/SOHO Workshop combines the successful STEREO, SDO and SOHO Workshops. It will be hosted by the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel.
As of February 2011 the two STEREO spacecraft are separated by more than 90 degrees from the Earth. With the help of observations from SDO and SOHO, we have a 360-degree view of the Sun for the first time. The meeting will cover many aspects regarding the Sun, its magnetic field and activity, the quiet and disturbed solar wind, the heliospheric magnetic field as well as energetic particles, their acceleration and transport into and within the dynamical heliospheric environment.

There will be three sessions:

Each session will have oral and poster contributions. Contributed papers are welcome to each of the three sessions. The oral presentations consist of both invited and contributed papers. Observational as well as theoretical/modeling contributions are welcome.

Registration and abstract submission are now open. If you are already pre-registered please remember to complete the registration.

We offer to publish all papers of the workshop as a topical issue of Solar Physics after the meeting. The deadline for submission is 30.9.2011.

Social Programme: A social programme including a welcome reception and a conference excursion with dinner is included in the registration fee.

Key dates/Deadlines:
Abstract Submission Deadline - 1 June 2011.
Early (reduced rate) Registration Deadline - 15 May 2011 (Euro 290/190*)

In 2011 the two STEREO spacecraft will be separated by more than 90 degrees from the Earth. With the help of observations from SDO and SOHO, we will have a 360-degree view of the Sun for the first time. The objective of the workshop is to discuss a range of scientific topics, which are key to our current understanding of the global structure of the Sun and inner heliosphere.

The highly successful STEREO and SOHO Workshops are being combined with the upcoming international SDO Workshops into a STEREO/SDO/SOHO Workshop, to be hosted by the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Germany, in the week of July 25, 2011. This combined workshop will focus on the continuing scientific achievements of these missions in the broader context of understanding the Sun 360 and its structuring of the inner heliosphere.
